For my research process I, in the past, usually have tried to write my paper as I do my research. I fell like approaching a research paper in that way is very ineffective and it is hard to make a convincing argument that is organized and makes sense. I am glad that in this paper we will have the opportunity to approach our research first with questions that will help us to formulate an opinion first and a direction for the paper, then jump into the writing of the paper.  For me personally I find research pretty frustrating, not that it’s bad or anything but it’s something that takes a lot of effort and can sometimes, be very hard to do effectively. So far for this research paper I have been able to look up quite a few articles that have helped me to hone in on my topic. I havn’t completely figured out what my topic is going to be yet but it’s been helpful to use the databases that the school provides. For my topic I think I’m going to talk about the cost of the Russia Sochi Olympics and discuss whether or not it is worth it or not. Some things that I am going to change about the way that I approach my research Is that I’m going to record the URL’s on a separate word doc and beneath each one I want to pull out some of the solid facts that I was able to find within that article. This way I can get the general idea of the article and I won’t have to read the whole article every time that I am searching for more knowledge about my topic. As I continue to research I want to first continue to hone in on my topic because I’m not completely sure about what direction it is that I want to take my paper. Second I make sure that there is enough information on my topic that I can use to go off of as I continue to write my research paper. As I do research projects in the future I want to use this method of researching again because I think that it helps to create a more organized and convincing argument. Research is going to be a big part of my schooling for my career path as I am majoring in Biology in hopes to make it into dental school. This project will hopefully help me to write research projects in the future.
